The teaching of literacy (along with numeracy) is a paramount to our New Zealand education system. With an increasing number of students starting school with diverse and varied backgrounds, there is a need to move to a more imaginative, inventive and sustaining approach to language in the classroom.
We recognise the need to provide phonic, reading/writing and speaking/listening resources that foster the processing, comprehension and enjoyment of text. Resources that connect oral, written and visual language as well as equipment to aid and develop listening skills. Our teaching resources are vast and varied. We now stock Jolly Phonics readers and reading games to reinforce all of the other literacy areas. Many of our oral and listening language activities can be used independently as well as in group or class situations. Visual language resources include letter, word and sentence tools, interactive whiteboard software, charts and literacy games. When it comes to written language, we stock great fun prompts, charts and a variety of soft dice.
We cater for the early reader, the English as a second language reader and middle and senior primary school readers.
