Pretend or imaginative play enables a child to express feelings and emotions in a risk free way. Imaginative play prepares a child for adulthood laying strong foundations for social and emotional well being. By acting out a character children learn empathy, understanding, confront fears, exercise control and make or break rules safely.

Pretend or imaginative play is now recognised as a vital component to the normal development of a child. Pretend play allows for expression of both positive and negative feelings in a non consequential environment. By allowing children to role play we give them the opportunity to problem solve, empathise and communicate that role. Dramatic play also fosters imagination, enhances curiosity and emotion.
